Abstract

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases globally. In the daily practice of family physicians, many people living with diabetes are seen; however, they often go undetected. Therefore, it is crucial to look for early signs to detect it in time. Silent diabetes can be present without warning, but its consequences are not invisible. The role of the family physician is very important in detecting this condition early and making the difference between a healthy life and the presence of serious complications for their patients. Lifestyle interventions, the role of the family physician as an agent of change, and the pursuit of effective public health policies are fundamental to counteracting this problem. Unfortunately, to date, there is no definitive cure for diabetes; however, we must continue to do our best to improve the health of our population.
