Epidemiological Profile of the Patient with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in a Family Medicine unit from the Period 2015-2020, in Baja California, Mexico

Objective: To determine Epidemiological profile of the patient with pulmonary tuberculosis in a family medicine unit in the period 2015-2020 in Baja California, Mexico. Methods: Retrospective study in patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis of the Family Medicine Unit No. 16 in the period 2015-2020 included in the database of the Single Epidemiological Surveillance Information System. The variables studied were: age, sex, education, occupation, place of residence, number of intra-household contacts, associated comorbidities, included in the database or clinical record. The analysis included descriptive statistics using SPSSv24. Results: Census of 181 patients observing: age group from 21 to 30 years (30.9%), male sex (63.5%), secondary schooling (46.4%), living in an urban area (99.4%), salaried worker (64.4%), comorbidity of diabetes (25.4%) and intradomiciliary contacts 746 of which 137 (18.3%) started prophylactic treatment. Conclusions: The profile of the patients coincides with what is mentioned internationally regarding age, male sex, secondary education, living in an urban area, working as a salaried employee, and diabetes mellitus as a comorbidity.
