Abstract

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is defined as an excessive concern with perceived defects in physical appearance, which are not obvious or are barely visible to other people. There are various types of dysmorphia: facial, muscular, hair and even Zoom dysmorphia. TDC is a disorder that is little known by health personnel, which makes it a serious problem, since, not having enough information, reduces the diagnostic capacity and the possibility of timely intervention in its evolution and the development of complications. Adolescents are the most vulnerable population due to their easy access to media and social networks, therefore, to the consumption of content that promotes unrealistic or difficult-to-achieve beauty standards. The objective of this paper is to provide relevant information and diagnostic tools to address this disorder in primary care medical consultations.
