Abstract

Objective: To know the frequency of depression, anxiety and stress (DAS) in retired patients over 60 years of age. Methods: Cross-sectional study in retired older adults (ROA) from the Family Medicine Unit No. 16 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. The DASS-21 scale was applied to detect the level of depression, anxiety and stress; through non-probabilistic quota sampling during the period from September 2022 to January 2023. All participants signed a letter of informed consent. Results: The sample was 338 patients above 60 years of age or olders. Male sex predominated with 60.4% and the age was 69 years. The frequency of ASD was 81.7%, 47% and 34.3% respectively, and the medium level predominated in the first two and the moderate level in depression. Conclusions: Mental disorders such as DAS in ROA are present and have a tendency to increase. This is a notice directed to health personnel to consider the mental area within the routine clinical evaluation.
